Jayan Jose Thomas is an Associate Professor of Economics at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi. Jayan’s research has dealt with various aspects of Indian development, especially issues related to labour, industrialisation and the macroeconomy. He teaches courses on macroeconomics, Indian economy, international economics, and planning and development. Jayan completed his PhD in development economics from the Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR), Mumbai, and holds a Bachelors degree in industrial engineering from Kerala University. His previous academic positions were at the National University of Singapore, Indian Statistical Institute, Madras School of Economics, and Central University of Kerala. In State Planning Board, he is incharge of programmes and issues related to industrial growth.
