Activities during the year 2013- 14

3.114 The State Government had provided and released a sum of 12.81 crore under plan during
the year 2013- 14. In addition to this, State Government had allotted an amount of 12.09 crore
for modernization of Khadi sector and 18.00 crore towards Income Support Scheme. The Board
had also been allotted 29.30 crore for meeting Non Plan Administrative Expenses, 6.00 crore as
Special Rebate on retail sale of Khadi through out the year and 9.00 crore towards Special Rebate
on retail sale of Khadi on Festival seasons ( for 108 days) under Non Plan during the year 2013-14.
The Khadi and Village Industries Commission had released an amount of 8.26 crore ( 8.20 crore
as Margin Money and 0.06 crore for publicity) to the Board under Prime Ministers Employment
generation Programme ( PMEGP).

Performance of Khadi sector during 2013 and 2014

Employment generation

3.115 The target at national level was to create 480000 employment opportunities under Prime
Ministers Employment generation Programme ( PMEGP) during 2013-14 by disbursing a margin
money of 1380.00 crore through 60000 projects. In kerala the target was to create 3504 nos. of
employment opportunities by disbursing a margin money grant of 10.07 crore through 438 projects.
But 3907 employment opportunities were generated over and above the target of 3504 nos by
disbursing a margin Money Grant of 8.20 crore to 399 projects under the scheme.

3.116 Under Special Employment Generation Programme 927 employment opportunities were
created by setting up 296 units statewide with a total project cost of 7.78 crore providing subsidy of
2.12 crore. District wise achievement are shown in Appendix 3.44 .

Production and SalesTurnover

3.117 During 2012- 13 and 2013-14 goods worth 285.88 crore were produced and goods worth
343.39 crore were sold by providing employment to 236389 persons. While comparing the production
, sales and employment generation during 2013- 14 with 2012- 13 it shows a decreasing trend in
production and employment generation but an increasing trend in sales in value terms. The reason
for the increase in sales of goods compared to the value of goods produced has to be verified by
Khadi and Village Industries Board. Details of value of production, sales, employment, and wages
paid during 2012- 13 and 2013- 14 are given in Appendix 3.45.

3.118 Goods worth Rs.40.95 crore has been sold through 215 sales outlets of Khadi & Village
Industries during 2013- 14 . It shows an increasing trend in sales during reporting year compared to
2012- 13. District wise details are shown in Appendix 3.46.

Imparting of Training

3.119 Imparted training in Bee Keeping, Cotton Weaving and Silk weaving to 500 , 75 and 50 Nos.
of persons respectively during 2013-14.

Support to Khadi Spinners and Weavers

3.120 An amount of 1.28 crore has been disbursed to 6274 Khadi Spinners and 4014 Weavers as
production incentive.

3.121 Supported 11,193 khadi artisans for ensuring minimum wages by spending 18.00 crore
under Income Support Scheme.
