1970 മുതൽ 2011 വരെ കെ.എം. ചന്ദ്രശേഖർ ഇന്ത്യൻ അഡ്മിനിസ്ട്രേറ്റീവ് സർവീസിൽ (IAS) സേവനമനുഷ്ഠിച്ചു. ഔദ്യോഗിക ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ അവസാന നാല് വർഷങ്ങളിൽ, പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി ഡോ. മൻമോഹൻ സിംഗിന് നേരിട്ട് റിപ്പോർട്ട് ചെയ്യുന്ന കേന്ദ്ര കാബിനറ്റ് സെക്രട്ടറി എന്ന ഉന്നത പദവി അദ്ദേഹം വഹിച്ചു. 2011-ൽ വിരമിച്ച ശേഷം, 2016 വരെ സംസ്ഥാന ആസൂത്രണ ബോർഡിന്റെ വൈസ് ചെയർമാനായി പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു.
പൊതു ധനകാര്യം, വ്യവസായം, കൃഷി, മത്സ്യബന്ധനം, അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര വ്യാപാരം, നയതന്ത്രം എന്നീ മേഖലകളിൽ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് വിപുലമായ അനുഭവസമ്പത്തുണ്ട്. ഇന്ത്യാ ഗവൺമെന്റിന്റെ ധനകാര്യ മന്ത്രാലയത്തിൽ റവന്യൂ സെക്രട്ടറിയായും സംസ്ഥാന സർക്കാരിൽ ധനകാര്യ സെക്രട്ടറിയായും അദ്ദേഹം സേവനമനുഷ്ഠിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ജനീവയിലെ ലോക വ്യാപാര സംഘടനയിലെ (WTO) ഇന്ത്യൻ അംബാസഡറായും, ബ്രസ്സൽസിലെ ഇന്ത്യൻ എംബസിയിൽ ഡെപ്യൂട്ടി ചീഫ് ഓഫ് മിഷനായും (യൂറോപ്യൻ യൂണിയൻ, ബെൽജിയം, ലക്സംബർഗ് എന്നിവയുമായുള്ള ബന്ധം കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ട്) പ്രവർത്തിച്ചതിലൂടെ നയതന്ത്ര-ചർച്ചാ രംഗങ്ങളിൽ അദ്ദേഹം പ്രാവീണ്യം തെളിയിച്ചു.
പൊതു, സ്വകാര്യ, സംയുക്ത, സഹകരണ മേഖലകളിലായി അമ്പതോളം കമ്പനികളിൽ ചെയർമാൻ, മാനേജിംഗ് ഡയറക്ടർ അല്ലെങ്കിൽ ഡയറക്ടർ എന്നീ നിലകളിൽ അദ്ദേഹം പ്രവർത്തിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. പത്ത് വലിയ സ്വകാര്യ കമ്പനികളുടെ ബോർഡുകളിലും അദ്ദേഹം അംഗമായിരുന്നു. ഫെഡറൽ ബാങ്കിന്റെ ചെയർമാനായും തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തെ ശ്രീചിത്ര ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ട് ഓഫ് മെഡിക്കൽ സയൻസസ് ആൻഡ് ടെക്നോളജിയുടെ പ്രസിഡന്റായും അദ്ദേഹം പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു. കൂടാതെ, ന്യൂഡൽഹിയിലെ ജവഹർലാൽ നെഹ്റു സർവകലാശാലയുമായി അഫിലിയേറ്റ് ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ള തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തെ സെന്റർ ഫോർ ഡെവലപ്മെന്റ് സ്റ്റഡീസിൽ തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ട പദവിയിൽ ചെയർമാനായും സേവനമനുഷ്ഠിച്ചു. ഗുലാത്തി ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ട് ഓഫ് ഫിനാൻസ് ആൻഡ് ടാക്സേഷനിലെ ‘ഡിസ്റ്റിംഗ്വിഷ്ഡ് ഫെല്ലോ’ (Distinguished Fellow) ആയ അദ്ദേഹം, ബെംഗളൂരുവിലെ നാഷണൽ ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ട് ഓഫ് അഡ്വാൻസ്ഡ് സ്റ്റഡീസിന്റെ മാനേജ്മെന്റ് കൗൺസിൽ അംഗവും കോട്ടയ്ക്കൽ ആര്യവൈദ്യശാലയുടെ ഓണററി ഉപദേഷ്ടാവുമാണ്. തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തെ കിംസ് ഹെൽത്ത് (KIMS HEALTH) ഹോസ്പിറ്റലിലെ ഇൻഡിപെൻഡന്റ് ഡയറക്ടർ സ്ഥാനം അദ്ദേഹം അടുത്തിടെ രാജിവെച്ചു.
ടൈംസ് ഓഫ് ഇന്ത്യ, ഇന്ത്യൻ എക്സ്പ്രസ്, ഹിന്ദുസ്ഥാൻ ടൈംസ്, ഇക്കണോമിക് ടൈംസ്, ഫിനാൻഷ്യൽ എക്സ്പ്രസ്, ബിസിനസ് സ്റ്റാൻഡേർഡ്, ദി പ്രിന്റ്, ദി വയർ, ദി വീക്ക് തുടങ്ങിയ വിവിധ പത്രങ്ങളിലും മാസികകളിലും അദ്ദേഹം ധാരാളം ലേഖനങ്ങൾ എഴുതി പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഓർമ്മക്കുറിപ്പുകൾ അടങ്ങിയ “As Good as My Word” എന്ന പുസ്തകം 2023 ഡിസംബറിൽ ഹാർപ്പർ കോളിൻസ് (ഇന്ത്യ) പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചു. ഈ വർഷം ആദ്യം ബ്ലൂംസ്ബറി (ഇന്ത്യ) പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച “The Kerala Club” എന്ന പുസ്തകത്തിന്റെ സഹ-എഡിറ്ററായും അദ്ദേഹം പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു.
G. Vijaya Raghavan is a technocrat and institution builder with more than four decades of experience spanning technology, education, healthcare and social development. As the founding CEO of Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram, he helped establish Kerala’s IT ecosystem. He also played a key role in founding institutions such as NISH, Trivandrum International School, Asian School of Business and CADRRE. A former member of the Kerala State Planning Board, he continues to advance initiatives focused on economic development, employment generation, innovation and social inclusion.
SRIDHAR RADHAKRISHNAN
ENVIRONMENTALIST | POLICY ADVOCATE | AGROECOLOGY & CLIMATE ACTION
Sridhar Radhakrishnan is an environmentalist, researcher and public policy advocate with nearly three decades of experience in environmental justice, agroecology, climate action, land use, food and seed sovereignty, and democratic governance. Trained as a computer engineer, he moved into full-time environmental work in 1997 after serving at NTPC and the Institute of Human Resources Development. From 1997 to 2019, he held several leadership roles at Thanal, including Programme Director, and coordinated the multi-state Save Our Rice Campaign. He is a founding member of ASHA-Kisan Swaraj and a founding member and former National Coordinator of the Coalition for a GM-Free India.
His policy contributions include Kerala’s Organic Farming Policy and draft Land Policy, participation in the agriculture and environment subcommittees of the Kerala State Planning Board, and the expert committee on land use policy at the Tamil Nadu State Development Policy Council. In 2026, he chaired the drafting committee for From Forest to Sea: Kerala People’s Environmental Charter and served as environmental expert on the Government of Kerala committee reviewing the proposed high-speed rail project. His early research examined the impact of industrial extraction on Kerala’s forests and was published as Grasim Since 1963: The Burden on Our Heads. As Principal Researcher with the Kerala Research Programme on Local Level Development at the Centre for Development Studies, he led studies on industrial–local linkages and zero-waste livelihoods involving women’s self-help groups, and has served as a civil-society observer at the UN Rotterdam Convention on hazardous chemicals and pesticides.
He currently serves in leadership and advisory roles with ASHA-Kisan Swaraj, Thirunelly Agri Producer Company, Agroecology Fund, Bharat Agroecology Fund and GRAIN. He writes regularly in English and Malayalam and has authored or contributed to publications including Cleaning Up Kerala: Studies in Self-Help in Dealing with Solid Waste and A Green Print for Sustainable Kerala: Lessons for Existence.
