3.20 The Corporation sanctioned financial assistance of `989.62 crore during 2013-14 (49.6%           Industry and Labour
growth over previous year). An amount of `754.73 crore was disbursed to various industrial units
during 2013-14 (58.6% increase over previous year). Performance of working of KFC during the last
five years is given in Appendix 3.10 The details of loan operations and industry-wise classification
of loan during 2013-14 of KFC are shown in Appendix 3.11 and Appendix 3.12

B) Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC)

3.21 Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation Ltd. (KSIDC), formed in 1961, is the premier
investment promotion agency of the Govt. of Kerala and the single point contact for investments to
the State.

3.22 KSIDC has sanctioned projects involving a capital investment of ` 152.38 crores with direct
term loan assistance of ` 54 crores in the financial year 2013-14. The new projects are expected to
generate employment for 10,000 persons directly and indirectly. The Corporation has also registered
`60 crores in disbursement, a highest record of ` 101 crores in recovery. The income has come
to `53.48 crores during 2013-14. Majority of projects financed by the Corporation during the year
are from Tourism and Manufacturing sectors. Corporation has also sanctioned projects in IT sector,
logistics, infrastructure and Agro processing sectors etc. Details of investment and employment
made in KSIDC units during 2013-14 are given in Appendix 3.13

3.23 The physical and financial performance of KSIDC during 2013-14 is given in Appendix 3.14

                     Business Incubator for Medical Devices and Biomaterials

                                   An initiative by State Planning Board

KSIDC proposed to partner with Sree Chitra Thirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and
Technology (SCTIMST) to establish a highly specialised Medical Devices Incubation Centre.
The incubator is intended to extent support to entrepreneurship endeavours of new innovators,
new medical device manufacturing ventures of Start up, R&D and scaling up operations of
SME Companies which are in the medical device domain and incubation of SCTIMST’s own
technologies for commercialisation. The cost of the project is estimated at ` 12 crore. The
project envisages funding support of about Rs.5 crore from the Department of Science and
Technology, GoI. A society has been registered as a Special Purpose Vehicle of SCTIMST
to take the project forward.
