5.50 The bar diagram above exibits fluctuation trend in both imports and exports . During 2013-14
import decreased by 18% and export increased by 5% as compared to the previous year.

                    Major Achievements of the Port sector during 2013-14 are

1. 	Coastal Shipping Project was officially flagged off at Kollam port on 9th November 2013.
    VAT facilitation centre opened at Kollam port . Vessel of M/s Transworld group MV
    OELvictory with stuffed containers ( Tiles arrived and unloaded at Kollam Port on that day).
    The cargo assured by the KSMDCL from Mundra port , Gujarat and the chartered vessel M
    V Suryamukhi has moved to Mudra Port to load container

2. 	Administrative Sanction accorded for the procurement of Reach Stackers for
    Vizhinjam,Kollam and Beypore and Purchase of Container Handling Crane for Beypore
    port.

3. 	40 feet Liebherr Container Handling Crane for Kollam port was commissioned.
4. 	Action taken for the construction of Cement Terminal at Kollam Port.
5. 	As part of Coastal Shipping Project implementation in Kollam port , the department prepared

    a Master Plan for “Kollam Port City” development including more than 20 minor projects.
6. 	Action taken for the procurement of Cutter Suction Dredger for Azhikkal and Beypore

    Ports.
7. 	A systematic process of developing the master plans of 10 non-major ports has been

    initiated, five for cargo shipping and five for passenger shipping.
8. Establishing the Kerala Maritime Board
9 . Provide various basic infrastructure facilities in the ports, , up grade the existing facilities

     along with installation of modern and efficient handling equipments.
10. Solar power plant and Wharf Strengthening at Azhikal port
11. Serving cargo such as building materials and perishable goods and passenger vessels

    from and to Lakshadweep Islands in Beypore port
