                                          constituting 3% of the total area of the country received excess rainfall. The actual rainfall received
                                          in Kerala during southwest monsoon season (1st June to 30th September) was 2163.3 mm as against
                                          the normal rainfall of 2039.7 mm in 2014 showing +6 per cent departure from normal. There was an
                                          excess of 26 per cent in the southwest monsoon rainfall during 2013.
                                          This year all districts in Kerala received normal rainfall for southwest monsoon season.

                                          2.7 During north east monsoon season the actual rainfall received in Kerala was 461.4 mm as
                                          against the normal rainfall of 464.2 mm. Among the districts Palakad (-22%) received deficient rainfall
                                          whereas Ernakulam (+21 %) and Kottayam (+26%) received excess rainfall during this season.
                                          District wise rainfall distribution in the state during 2014 is given as Appendix 2.1.
