3.66 While considering the southern states, it is clear that Karnataka had a high progress in
utilizing the benefits of PMEGP in 2013-14 compared to other states. Among Tamilnadu, Karnataka
and Andra Pradesh, Kerala was being at low stratum in using benefits of this Programme. In Kerala,
number of projects assisted, margin money utiilised and Employment generated through PMEGP
seems declined in the period under review.The number of projects women entreprenuers in 2013-
14 is 467, placing Kerala at 3rd position in state wise comparison. Tamil Nadu is on top with 865
numbers and Karnataka at 2nd position with 591 numbers.
3.67 The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) was approved as the nodal agency for
implementation of the scheme at national level. In Kerala, State KVIC Directorate, State Khadi and
Village Industries Board(KVIB), District Industries Centres (DICs) and bankers are the agencies
for implementation of the scheme. A target of 584 number of units were allocated to DICs and
1951 applications were received during the year 2013-14, it was 2480 during 2012-13. The banks
sanctioned 862 applications that is far less than 1304 in the previous year and provided Margin
Money of `1132.59 lakh. Details are given in Appendix 3.33.
