• ANERT launched the 10,000 Rooftop Solar Power Plant programme in September 2012. The
total capacity added would be 10 MW. The physical target of 6400 nos sanctioned by the state
Government was achieved during the first phase with MNRE Subsidy @ ` 53262 and State
subsidy @ ` 39000. The remaining 3600 systems could be installed during the second phase.
• The installation of Solar PV Power plant (off grid) on the following buildings were completed.
(i) Medical College – 20 kW, (ii) AGs office – 10 kW, (iii) ANERT HQ building – 15 kW,
(iv) Thycaud Women and Children Hospital – 40 kW, (v) State Planning Board – 20 kW,
(vi)Manmohan Bungalow – 3kW and (vii) Thycaud House – 2kW.
• Deposit works such as Installation of 3 kW off grid Solar PV power plants of capacity 30 kW had
been installed in 9 factories of CAPEX in Kollam and Alapuzha districts with MNRE subsidy.
Installation of SPV power plants at RARS of Kerala Agricultural University at Ambalavayal and
that at Homoeo College at Thiruvananthapuram has been completed.
• Two solar water heating systems each of capacity 500 litres/day have been installed in the
Homoeo Medical College Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram.
• Installation 1100 nos. of Solar LED street lighting system is going on in different Districts.
• The solar lantern programme (19,000 nos. of CFL based solar lanterns with state subsidy) is
almost complete.
• During 2013-14, under Solar thermal water heating systems, 3000 nos of evacuated tube
collector type systems and 947 nos. of flat plate collector systems were installed throughout
the State.
• During 2013-14 Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) had allotted a target of 1400
nos. of Family type biogas plant. In addition to this ANERT has installed and commissioned
995 nos biogas plants under State scheme during this period. Three Institutional Biogas Plants
were installed as Depository work in SAP Camp, Peroorkada, Thiruvananthapuram, Mental
Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram and Police Training College, Thycaud, Thiruvandrum.
• ANERT had installed 7500 nos. of improved chulhas under 2013-14 programme (2500
nos. under general category, 5000nos. under SC/ST and total housing scheme, and 1000
community models).
• Under the programme of Wind resource assessment, technical approval was given to M/s
Kosamattom finance Pvt. Ltd for establishing1MW wind farm in private land at Ramakkalmedu
in Idukki District.
• Installation and commissioning of solar fencing energizer systems in 15 remote colonies in
Wayanad and 12 remote colonies in Malappuram have been completed.
Energy Management Centre-Kerala
5.125 Energy Management Centre (EMC), Kerala, an autonomous body under the Department
of Power, Government of Kerala, devoted to the improvement of energy efficiency in the State,
promotion of energy conservation and encouraging development of technologies related to energy
through research, training, demonstration programmes and awareness creation.The Small Hydro
Promotion Cell constituted by Government of Kerala for the implementation of Small Hydro Power
(SHP) Projects is functioning in EMC.
Achievements of Energy Management Centre
• The Industrial units participated in the State Energy Conservation award 2013 have saved 43
MU of electricity, 18293 Tons of oil, 5500 Tons of coal and 34 Tons of LPG.
• In order to increase the efficiency of Street lights, EMC has completed the installation of 100
Nos. of LED Street lights in all Municipalities and all Corporations.
• EMC has completed Investment Grade Energy Audit in 30 Government Buildings with the
support of Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, GOI and achieved saving of 8 lakh
units of electricity.
