To review the Annual Plan progress and to evaluate the progress of activities of Meat Products of India Limited., Prof. V.K.Ramachandran, Vice Chairperson, State Planning Board accompanied by Sri. S. S. Nagesh, Chief, Agriculture Division and a team of officials visited company’s hi-tech slaughter house at Edayar, Ernakulam. It consists of a bovine plant with capacity to slaughter 200 cattle/buffalo and process 15 MT of meat per day/per shift; swine plant with a capacity of slaughter 200 pigs and process 11 MT pork items per day/per shift; rendering plant with a capacity to process 12 MT of slaughter waste of animals and can process 6 MT of by products like bone meal, tallow and blood meal. A bio gas plant, ETP and a quality control lab are also functioning in the Plant. Company currently has 460 dealers and 7 outlets, of which five outlets are at Supply Co. The discussion was mainly on the business plan of the firm and the reasons for the continuous loss of the company.
